The Lorax: I speak for the trees! Let them grow! Let them grow!

The Lorax: But nobody listens too much, don't you know.
This morning, I volunteered for the Million Trees Project with some fellow AmeriCorps members (Happy AmeriCorps Week!). The Million Trees Project was new to me this year. It is a project done by Living Lands and Waters (and other groups do it too as I learned from my google search). The project took place at a local expo center. There we made a tree prep assembly line. I got to be a newspaper wrapper so I took the tree sapling and wrapped the roots in newspaper, then they got dunked in water and put into small bags and finally counted and separated into larger bags. The trees will go to local youth, businesses, and other projects to be planted all over my community.
I have not done a lot of environmental projects, but I really enjoyed this one! The time went by quickly and the work was pretty simple. Unfortunately, I don't get to see those trees being planted. I may try to go back again this week and prep some more trees!
