Road Rulz - NYC (Day 6)

Thursday of day camp was another great day! We experienced another hot day full of laughter, learning, and Daniel in the Lion's Den. I helped our high school campers lead a fun game of Lion's in the Grass (an amazing game because it requires everyone to be still and quiet!) and helped the day camp kids make cute lion paper bag hand puppets. The day also featured another afternoon in Central Park (after a delicious cold pizza lunch) where I had a monkey bar race with a really sweet day camper. I won and then she won (but she cheated) and then I won the last one (The remnants of my huge blister are almost totally gone now). She was probably letting me win cause I hadn't done the monkey bars in years before this week, but I was still excited. After some fun hand clap games and chatting in the shade, it was time to go back to the church for closing. Our director had gone back to our home church to do some camp work, but with a unanimous vote, we took our last trip to the frozen yogurt shop (I got a shake with strawberries and blueberries - I thought I should be healthier after my days of coffee/carmel sauce, and pb/chocolate mix with cookie pieces).

When we got back to the church we decided that there was no time for a nap (I took my nap on the subway and luckily the girls (who were obsessed with taking pictures of everyone sleeping) did not catch me during my wonderful nap) because it was our last night in the city :(. We decided we would get dinner later so we headed out for China Town/Little Italy.  Not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed. Well I guess I was not sure what to expect in China Town, but it was a lot grosser than I had imagined and there were lots of people calling at us from their shops to come in and see their merchandise (which seemed to be the same stuff as the store before it and the store before that). Personally, I'm not a fan of being pestered outside (or inside) a store (unless it is a nice sales person helping me to find the right pants after I ask for help). It was also dirty and really crowded which made things a bit stressful. Suddenly, we all became super hungry so we stopped at a random Chinese restaurant. The only problem was its "B" rating. It was posted on the window basically saying "why would you eat here, when their are other restaurants that say "A"". Ew. Not a great experience - the food was cold and not good, but we all survived it! Soon after dinner we decided that we would go to Time's Square next for some real shopping. Me and a few of the campers spent an amazing hour and a half in Forever 21 (the biggest one ever seriously!) and I bought a super cute dress.
Then we said goodbye to the busiest part of the city and had our last subway ride of the trip home.
