Philanthropy at Work - Office Olympics!

So the Red Cross that I'm working at has an employee fundraising event every year for the United Way. It is to help support an organization that the Red Cross gets a lot of funding from. Besides taking pledges from full-time employees, they also do some fun events for everyone each year. This year it is an Office Olympics!! [It is obviously like The Office! Without the Flonkerton though :( (this video is not the best, but the selection was poor - go to the video store and rent it)]
So for $5, we get to be on a team and participate in events each day at 11am. Today was the recycling toss. We crinkled scrap paper and tossed it into recycling bins. I got 4th (which was the last place), but it was really fun!
On Friday, we get to have a quesadilla bar for lunch!

Today, during the event I realized that this is the post-college version of fraternity/sorority philanthropy events. Well, with way less boy-chasing (Catching fraternity members is a component to a few philanthropy projects) and no sisters. But, it has the crazy daily events, the food component, the good cause, posters, and the feeling of intense competition. The Red Cross Olympics also has a torch and a trophy with a fire truck on the top! I'm so glad that I've discovered this similarity between the real world and college and at the perfect moment. I was really missing school, but now I see that some parts of college can really continue into the real world.

Also I have another great quote to add to last weeks quote that I had forgotten!
Me: "What is a good time to wash your hands?"
Pre-schooler: "2 O'clock"
I guess I'm going to have to reword that question to make it less confusing.
